DENVER, July 4 (UPI) -- Will Hesmer of Columbus and Bouna Coundoul of Colorado were perfect in goal Wednesday as the Crew and Rapids battled to a 0-0 tie.

It was the ninth scoreless draw in Major League Soccer this year and the third in the last two weeks.

Columbus has played 15 games this season and seven of them have ended in a tie.

Hesmer made two saves and Coundoul had three. The outcome was surprising in that Columbus and Colorado had both allowed 21 goals coming into the game -- tied for the second most porous defenses in the league.
