MLB: St. Louis 5, Arizona 4

ST. LOUIS, July 4 (UPI) -- Scott Rolen doubled in the winning run in the eighth inning Wednesday as St. Louis rallied past Arizona 5-4.

Arizona had a 4-1 lead in the seventh before St. Louis got solo homers from Chris Duncan and Brendan Ryan to come within 4-3. Juan Encarnacion and Rolen both hit RBI doubles in the eighth.

Rolen, Ryan, and Duncan all had two hits for the Cardinals, who have split their last 10 games.

The winner was Ryan Franklin (3-0) with closer Jason Isringhausen earning his 16th save.

Arizona got two-run homers from starter Livan Hernandez and Miguel Montero.

Montero, Scott Drew and Eric Byrnes all had two hits for the Diamondbacks, who have six losses in their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was Brandon Lyon (5-3).
