KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 1 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox left-fielder Scott Podsednik Sunday suffered a strained muscle in his left ribcage in the first inning of a 3-1 victory at Kansas City.
Podsednik left the contest after a first-inning fly out to deep right-field.
The team listed him out for Monday night's home game against Baltimore.
His long-term playing status is undecided.
"Those can take a little while," said Manager Ozzie Guillen on the team's Web site. "We'll see when we get to Chicago and the doctor sees how he feels. We don't know if it's the disabled list or day by day."
The White Sox leadoff man is batting just .269 for the season, with one home run and two RBI in 67 at-bats.
The former third-round draft selection by the Texas Rangers in 1994 has been plagued by injuries all season.
He missed more than two months because of a right adductor muscle strain.
