MLB: Boston 7, Texas 3

BOSTON, July 2 (UPI) -- Eric Hinske hit a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning Monday, fueling the Boston Red Sox' 7-3 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Dustin Pedroia hit a two-run double in the third inning, and rookie Jacoby Ellsbury went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs for the Red Sox, who won for just the third time in their last nine games.

Another Boston rookie, Kason Gabbard (2-0), earned the victory in his second straight start in place of the injured Curt Schilling. The left-hander pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

Brad Wilkerson hit a three-run home run for the Rangers. Brandon McCarthy (4-5), who was activated off the 15-day disabled list prior to the game, was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs on six hits through 3 2/3 innings.
