Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

EAST MEADOW, N.Y., July 1 (UPI) -- Lonnie Nielsen Sunday shot a closing 2-under-par 69 to capture the Champions Tour's Commerce Bank Championship at East Meadow, N.Y., by two shots.
Nielsen, whose final round included three birdies and one bogey, ended with a total of 14-under 199 to claim a winner's check of $225,000 for his first Champions Tour title.
"I can't event talk," said the winner, who turned 54 Friday. "What a thrill, what a thrill."
First-round leader Loren Roberts (66) was second at 12-under 201.
Tom McKnight (69) was third at 11-under 202. Bob Gilder (68) finished fourth at 10-under 203, while Eduardo Romero (68), R.W. Eaks (69) and David Edwards (69) all tied for fifth at 9-under 204.
