CARSON, Calif., July 1 (UPI) -- Maykel Galindo had a goal and an assist Saturday night as CD Chivas USA beat New England, 2-0.
Jesse Marsch scored the first goal of the game on a feed from Ante Razov in the 60th minute, to put Chivas up, 1-0. Galindo gave the home team an insurance goal in the 89th minute, when he broke down the left sideline, cut to the middle and scored on Revolution goalie Matt Reis.
Chivas goalie Preston Burpo made one save and posted his first shutout of the season, in his first start of the year. He was in goal in place of Brad Guzan, who is with the U.S. National Team at the Copa America in Venezuela.
Chivas picked up its fourth win in five games and improved its record to 6-4-2, good for third place in the Western Conference -- six points behind Dallas.
The Revolution maintained the top spot in the Eastern Conference despite the loss, because the New York Red Bulls also lost Saturday, falling to Columbus.
New England will be at home against Chivas July 7.
