
BOSTON, July 1 (UPI) -- Brad Wilkerson drove in the winning run Sunday with an RBI double in top of the sixth inning as the Texas Rangers edged Boston, 2-1.
Texas scored its other run on a fourth-inning fielding error by Boston right-fielder J.D. Drew.
Kenny Lofton, Michael Young and Ramon Vazquez all had two hits for the Rangers, who have split their last four games.
Winner Kameron Loe (5-6) allowed an earned run and six hits over six innings, while Eric Gagne earned his 10th save of the season.
Boston got its lone run on an RBI single by Kevin Youkilis in the bottom of the fifth.
Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia and Jason Varitek all had two hits for the AL East-leading Red Sox, who have six losses in their last 10 games.
Tough-luck losing pitcher Julian Tavarez (5-6) yielded only two runs -- one earned -- and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
