Chris Duncan had three hits -- one a two-run homer in the sixth -- while Albert Pujols had two runs and one RBI,. So Taguchi added two runs, three hits and one RBI for the Cardinals, who have split their last four.

The winner was reliever Troy Percival (2-0).

David Ross and Brandon Phillips hit solo homers for Cincinnati. Phillips scored three times and drove in two, while Norris Hopper had two runs and two hits for the Reds, who have dropped three of four.

The loser was Homer Bailey (2-2).
