
BALTIMORE, July 1 (UPI) -- Mike Napoli hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth Sunday, lifting the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 4-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Vladimir Guerrero threw out Melvin Mora at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, completing a game-ending double play. He also drove in a run with a double in the fourth.
Casey Kotchman added a two-run homer in the fourth for the Angels, who had only four hits but won for the second time in three games.
Winner John Lackey (11-5) gave up three earned runs on four hits in 7 1/3 innings. Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 24th save.
Baltimore's Jay Payton had two hits, including a two-run homer in the second that was his second homer this season. Ramon Hernandez hit an RBI single in the eighth for the Orioles, who have dropped three of four.
Loser Jeremy Guthrie (4-2) yielded four earned runs on four hits in eight innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.
