
CHICAGO, July 1 (UPI) -- Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run double in the first inning Sunday and the Chicago Cubs went on to beat Milwaukee, 5-1.
Derek Lee and Mark DeRosa hit RBI singles in the fourth, Lee had two runs and three hits, and Ryan Theriot had three hits and scored three times for the Cubs -- who closed within 6 1/2 games of Milwaukee in the NL Central with the fourth win in their last five games.
Winner Jason Marquis (6-4) gave up one earned run and only four hits in seven innings, with one walk and five strikeouts.
Chicago reliever Carlos Marmol fanned four batters in two innings.
Milwaukee's Corey Hart hit his 11th homer of the season, a solo shot in the sixth.
J.J. Hardy had two of the five hits for the Brewers, who lost for only the third time in their last 10 games.
Loser Dave Bush (6-7) surrendered four earned runs and six hits in six innings.
