
NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Chad Gaudin gave up one hit in 5 1/3 scoreless innings Saturday as Oakland pounded the New York Yankees 7-0.
The only hit allowed by the right-hander was a sixth inning single by Johnny Damon. It was the Yankees' only hit of the day.
Jason Kendall and Shannon Stewart hit back-to-back home runs off Yankees starter Kei Igawa with two outs in the third inning.
Dan Johnson hit a two-run homer in the sixth, and in the seventh Nick Swisher hit a two-run double and Eric Chavez hit an RBI double. Kendall had two runs and three hits, while Stewart had two hits and scored twice for the Athletics, who broke a two-game skid.
Gaudin (7-3) walked three batters and fanned four. Rich Harden walked two and struck out two in two innings.
Igawa (2-2) surrendered four earned runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings in taking the loss for New York.
