MAGNY-COURS, France, June 30 (UPI) -- Denmark's Soren Hansen has a two-shot lead through 54 holes of the European Tour's French Open Golf Tournament at Magny-Cours, France.
He overcame second-round leader Simon Khan of England with a 5-under-par 66 to move to 7-under 206.
The key point of his third turn on the Le Golf National golf course in suburban Paris was an eagle at the par-three third hole. A 270-yard shot with a three wood made him aggressive for the rest of the day.
Hansen maintained his momentum with birdies at three of the next four holes, and eventually overtook second-round leader Khan by the end of the round. Khan (70) is second at 6-under 207.
"I don't think I've hit a better shot, not under the circumstances," Hansen said about the shot at No. 3.
Colin Montgomerie and Paul McGinley were tied for third at 4-under 209.
"I have to prove to myself that I haven't forgotten how to win, said Montgomerie, who carded a 71 Saturday.
