MLB: St. Louis at N.Y. Mets, ppd.

NEW YORK, June 28 (UPI) -- Thursday night's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets at Shea Stadium was called because of rain.

The scheduled starters were Adam Wainwright for the Cardinals and New York's Orlando Hernandez.

The rainout came a day after the Mets' Tom Glavine picked up his 297th career victory in a rain-shortened 2-0 victory. That contest was called after 5 ½ innings.

No makeup date was scheduled for Thursday's rainout, but if one is needed, it will be on a date on which both teams agree.

St. Louis has split its last 10 games, and is third in the NL Central with a 34-41 record.

The Mets (43-33) lead the NL East, and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
