WIMBLEDON, England, June 27 (UPI) -- No. 3-seeded Jelena Jankovic dropped just two games in cruising to a second-round victory Wednesday at Wimbledon, the English stop on tennis' Grand Slam.

Jankovic -- a semifinalist at the French Open and a winner at one of the grass-court tune-ups for Wimbledon -- drilled Jarmila Gajdosova, 6-1, 6-1, to move into the third round.

Also claiming second-round victories Wednesday were top-seeded Justine Henin and seventh-seeded Serena Williams, the women who won the year's first two Grand Slam events.

Henin needed just 60 minutes to eliminate Vera Dushevina, 6-0, 6-4. Williams improved to 35-5 in her Wimbledon career by beating Alicia Molik, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, after trailing 1-4 in the first set.

No. 9-seeded Martina Hingis dumped Aiko Nakamura, 6-1, 6-2, in another second-round match.

In key first-round matches Wednesday, sixth-seeded Ana Ivanovic defeated Melinda Czink, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3); No. 12 Elena Dementieva topped Nathalie Dechy, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7); 13th-seeded Dinara Safina beat Kateryna Bondarenko, 7-5, 7-6 (9-7); and No. 14 Nicola Vaidisova stopped Karin Knapp, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.
