CHICAGO, June 27 (UPI) -- Brent Kowalkoski faces possible jail time after he made a barefooted dash toward the mound Monday night during the Chicago Cubs' game at Wrigley Field.
The misdemeanor charge of illegal conduct within sports facilities came after Cubs' closer Bob Howry gave up a three-run homer to Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki with no outs in the top of the ninth inning.
The blast gave Colorado a 9-8 lead, but the Cubs came back to win the contest, 10-9, in the bottom half of the inning.
Kowalkoski, 24, from Elmwood Park, Ill., ran toward Howry and was dragged off the field in a headlock by security guard Anton Migursky.
Kowalkoski spent the night in jail and was released Tuesday morning.
The charge carries a possible fine of up to $1,000 and a jail term of up to six months.
"I didn't even notice him until I turned around and saw the (guard) clothes-lined him and took him down," Howry said on the Cubs' Web site.
