Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CROMWELL, Conn., June 23 (UPI) -- Jay Williamson shot a 3-under 67 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the PGA Travelers Championship at Cromwell, Conn.
Williamson -- playing on a sponsor's invitation -- led after 54 holes for only the second time in his PGA Tour career, at 11-under 199. His best tour finish was a share of third place at the 2003 Bell South Classic.
First-round leader Hunter Mahan also had a 67 and is second at 200. David Toms, who shared the lead after two rounds, turned in a 69 and is third at 201.
Fred Funk, who won earlier this year in Mexico, moved into fourth place at 202 after a 67. Nick O'Hern and Pat Perez both shot 66 and share fifth at 7-under 203.
