MLB: St. Louis 8, Philadelphia 3

ST. LOUIS, June 23 (UPI) -- Juan Encarnacion hit a key three-run homer Saturday to help St. Louis beat Philadelphia 8-3.

The blast gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, one which it never relinquished.

Chris Duncan hit a two-run homer and also knocked in three for the Cardinals. One run scored on Shane Victorino's eighth inning fielding error, another scored on Jose Mesa's wild pitch in the same inning.

Albert Pujols scored twice and Aaron Miles had a run and three hits for St. Louis, while Scott Speizio had a run and two hits for the Cardinals, who have won three of four.

Winner Adam Wainwright (6-6) yielded two earned runs and seven hits in six innings.

Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard and Chase Utley all drove in one run for the Phillies. Rollins had three hits, and Howard had two for the Phillies, who have split their last four.

Loser Adam Eaton (7-5) have up six earned runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
