CROMWELL, Conn., June 22 (UPI) -- David Toms and Jay Williamson shared the lead Friday at the midway point of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn.
Toms -- a former PGA Championship winner who has not captured a tour event in 17 months -- fired a 5-under 65 over the TPC River Highlands course to get to 132 for 36 holes.
Williamson matched that 36-hole total by shooting a 66.
First-round leader Hunter Mahan had to settle for a 71, but that still left him only a shot off the pace.
Charles Warren, Olin Browne and Chris DiMarco were tied for fourth at 134.
After two weather delays Thursday, 40 players had to complete the first round early Friday. The second round was completed despite a brief delay caused by heavy rain.
Toms, starting on the back nine, birdied his first three holes. He made the turn in 4-under 31 and then holed an 81-yard wedge shot at the second for an eagle.
Former U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman was part of the large group at 135.
Masters winner Zach Johnson was among those who missed the cut.
