Clement advances to Nottingham title match

NOTTINGHAM, England, June 22 (UPI) -- Eighth-seeded Arnaud Clement won twice Friday to earn a finals berth at the Nottingham Open, a grass-court tennis tournament in England.

Clement will go against unseeded Ivo Karlovic in Saturday's title match. Clement is seeking his fifth ATP championship while Karlovic has won once on the tour.

Clement posted a 6-4, 6-3 quarterfinal match against top-seeded and two-time defending Nottingham champion Richard Gasquet and came back with a 6-2, 6-4 win over fourth-seeded Jonas Bjorkman, whom Gasquet beat in last year's final, in the semifinals.

Karlovic upset No. 2-seeded Dimity Tursunov, who like Clement had to play a quarterfinal earlier Friday, in his semifinal.

Saturday's title match will mark the fourth time Clement and Karlovic will have played each other. Clement owns a 2-1 advantage, including wins both times the pair played on a grass court. Clement beat Karlovic in straight sets last week in the quarterfinals of the London Queen's Club tournament.
