Summitt hospitalized with dehydration

NASHVILLE, June 21 (UPI) -- Longtime Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt Thursday was hospitalized after a bout with dehydration.

The Nashville Tennesseean reported that Summitt was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital after passing out at her home in Alcoa.

"She was at home when it happened, and they're going to keep a close eye on her and see how it goes," Debby Jennings -- associate athletics director for media relations in the UT women's athletics department -- told the newspaper.

Summitt will be hospitalized overnight for observation.

She had played host to 1,000 kids at her summer basketball camp, and is reported to be resting comfortably.

Summitt, 55, is the all-time winningest coach in women's basketball history with 947 victories in 34 seasons.
