MLB: Florida 7, Chicago Sox 5

CHICAGO, June 19 (UPI) -- Dan Uggla homered in the ninth Tuesday, powering the Florida Marlins to a 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox despite a one-inning start by Dontrelle Willis.

Uggla had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Hanley Ramirez added a home run, two RBI and two runs for the Marlins.

Willis left after the first inning with a left forearm strain. He was charged with four runs on three hits with three walks. Armando Benitez (1-3) earned the victory after pitching a perfect eighth inning.

The Florida bullpen combined to pitch eight innings of one-run, three-hit ball with one walk and six strikeouts.

Josh Fields hit a three-run home run for Chicago. Matt Thornton (2-3) got the loss for giving up two runs on three hits in one-plus innings. The White Sox have lost six of their last eight games.
