LONDON, June 12 (UPI) -- London Olympics organizers predict the 2012 Games' controversial logo will grow on Britons and said they'd keep it to make sure it does.
The logo, a stylized graffiti-like version of the numbers 2
At a news conference Tuesday with International Olympic Committee members, the Games' local organizer defended the logo and the flap it has caused.
"It is a logo," London Mayor Ken Livingstone was quoted as saying by The Times of London. "It is not the meaning of life or a secret code that will identify the bloodline of Mary Magdalene. It is a logo that will grow on you."
Alex Gilady, a senior IOC member, told BBC London: "This is just a logo. You are making a big thing out of something very small."
IOC inspectors are visiting London to check on preparations for the 2012 Summer Games.
