Hantuchova, Li advance in DFS Classic

BIRMINGHAM, England, June 12 (UPI) -- No. 3-seeded Daniela Hantuchova and fourth-seeded Na Li each had second-round wins at the grass-court $200,000 DFS Classic tennis tournament in England.

Hantuchova easily handled Olga Govortsova 6-2, 6-4 Tuesday while Li lost just two games over the final two sets of a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 win over Yaroslava Shvedova.

Some lower seeded players were given early exits, however. No. 10 Severine Bremond was upset by Alicia Molik, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, and No. 11 Olga Poutchkova didn't win a game in losing 6-0, 6-0 to Angelique Kerber in first-round action. No. 12-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska lost a second-round match, falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) to Elena Likhovtseva.

Fifteenth-seeded Eleni Daniilidou defeated Casey Dellacqua, 6-4, 6-4, and No. 16 Maria Kirilenko rallied to beat Nathalie Dechy, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round.

The tournament's top seeds -- Maria Sharapova and Jelena Jankovic -- open their play with second-round matches Wednesday.
