MLB: Chicago Cubs 2, Houston 1

CHICAGO, June 11 (UPI) -- Carlos Zambrano pitched eight innings and hit a home run Monday as the Chicago Cubs beat the Houston Astros 2-1 in a make-up game of an earlier postponed game.

The two clubs were originally set to conclude a three-game series April 11, but the contest was postponed due to snow and rain.

Zambrano (7-5) gave up an unearned run on three hits, stuck out eight and walked just one. His third-inning homer made it 2-0.

Ryan Dempster pitched a scoreless ninth to record his 13th save.

Mike Fontenot was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored for Chicago. Ryan Theriot got the Cubs' other RBI.

Woody Williams (2-9) started for Houston and gave up two runs on four in seven innings. Lance Berkman, Luke Scott and Brad Ausmus had the only hits for the Astros.
