COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 10 (UPI) -- An own goal credited to Kelly Gray late in the first half Sunday gave the Houston Dynamo its third straight victory, 2-1 over Columbus.

The Dynamo won for the third time in eight days to even its record at 5-5-1. The winning streak is an unlikely one considering the team's top three scorers -- Dwayne De Rosario, Brian Ching and Ricardo Clarke -- are all competing for their national teams in the Gold Cup.

Houston is in second place in the Western Conference, three points behind Dallas.

Joseph Ngwenya put Houston in front in the 22nd minute with his third goal in as many games. Alejandro Moreno tied it less than three minutes later.

The tie was broken when Gray sent a cross into the box and had it deflected by defenseman Chad Marshall into his own net.

Columbus (1-4-5) is on a six-game winless streak.
