CLEVELAND, June 2 (UPI) -- Daniel Gibson scored 19 of his career-high 31 points in the final quarter Saturday as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Detroit, 98-82, to reach the NBA Finals.
LeBron James added 20 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists as the Cavaliers made it to the NBA Finals for the first time, eliminating the Pistons in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Cavaliers will face the San Antonio Spurs in the championship series. The Spurs have never lost in the NBA Finals in three appearances.
The series starts Thursday night in San Antonio.
Gibson, a rookie, made all five of his three-point tries, four of them in the fourth quarter.
