PITTSBURGH, June 2 (UPI) -- Ian Snell allowed just one run in eight innings Saturday night, as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-1.

Snell (5-4) checked the Dodgers on six hits and two walks, striking out six.

Matt Capps, in his debut as the Pirates' closer, pitched a perfect ninth to get his first save, as Pittsburgh snapped a three-game losing streak.

Xavier Nady hit his eighth home run of the season and Jose Bautista had three hits and scored a run for Pittsburgh, which won for just the second time in its last seven games.

Tony Abreu had three hits and an RBI and Hong-Chin Kuo (0-1) allowed just two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts for the Dodgers, who lost for just the third time in their last 10 games.

Pittsburgh scored all the runs they would need in the first inning, when Bautista and Chris Duffy got on base with a pair of singles, Bautista scored on a single by Freddy Sanchez, and Adam LaRoche walked with the bases loaded to make it 2-0.
