MLB: N.Y. Yankees 9, Boston 5

BOSTON, June 1 (UPI) -- Jorge Posada drove in three runs and Robinson Cano had a two-run homer Friday night as the New York Yankees outlasted Boston, 9-5.

Three New York batters were hit by pitches and the benches emptied when the Yankees' Scott Proctor retaliated by throwing at Kevin Youkilis in the ninth. Proctor was ejected by home plate umpire Brian O'Nora, but calm was restored without any punches being thrown.

Boston had 13 hits to 11 for the Yankees, but dug a 9-3 hole when New York scored six times in the fourth.

Chien-Ming Wang (4-4) lasted 5 2/3 innings to get the win, giving up 10 hits and three runs.

Tim Wakefield (5-6) absorbed the loss. He walked six and gave up eight runs over 3 2/3 innings.
