NEWPORT, Wales, June 1 (UPI) -- Denmark's Mads Vibe-Hastrup has a one-shot lead through 36 holes of the European Tour's Wales Open in Newport, Wales.

In Friday's second round, the 28-year old Dane shot 6-under-par 63 for an overall total of 8-under 130.

"I have missed a couple of cuts in recent months when my putting has been off, but I played well in Ireland a couple of weeks ago in tough conditions and that gave me confidence," Vibe-Hastrup said.

Alastair Forsyth (65) and Steven O'Hara (66), the duo from Scotland, are tied with Australia's Brett Rumford (66) for second place at 7-under 131. Rumford was part of a nine-way tie for the lead after Thursday's first-round.

England's Paul Broadhurst (67), who also had a piece of the first-round lead, is tied for fifth with New Zealand's Michael Campbell (66) and eight others at 6-under 132.
