
CHICAGO, June 1 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur was 2-for-5 with three RBI Friday afternoon as the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs, 8-5.
He plated two runs with a double in the fifth, when Atlanta scored five times to forge a 7-1 advantage.
Kelly Johnson had one run, three hits and one RBI. Brian McCann had one run, two hits and one RBI; Pete Orr was 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Edgar Renteria had two runs and three hits; and winning pitcher Kyle Davies had three hits, including an RBI double for the Braves -- who banged out a season-high 20 hits their third win in four games.
Davies (3-3) yielded one earned run and six hits in seven innings.
Chicago's Derek Lee and Jacque Jones hit solo homers.
Lee had three hits; while Aramis Ramirez had one run, two hits and two RBI for the Cubs -- who have dropped five straight.
Losing pitcher Carlos Zambrano (5-5) nearly fought catcher Michael Barrett after the fifth inning.
