
NEW YORK, June 1 (UPI) -- Brandon Webb allowed one run and four hits in eight innings Friday as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the New York Mets, 5-1, for their eighth straight win.
Webb walked one batter and struck out eight while combining with Brandon Lyon on a five-hitter.
Chris Snyder hit a two-run homer, and Scott Drew added a three-run shot. Carlos Quentin had a run and two hits, and Conor Jackson also had two hits for the Diamondbacks, who maintained a share of the NL West lead with the LA Dodgers.
Ruben Gotay hit a pinch RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to account for New York's lone run.
Jose Reyes had two hits for the NL East-leading Mets, who have lost two of three.
Loser John Maine (6-3) allowed two earned runs and five hits in six innings, with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Mets reliever Guillermo Mota yielded three runs in two innings.
