MLB: LA Angels 8, Seattle 6

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 30 (UPI) -- Three-run homers by Gary Matthews and Vladimir Guerrero, along with outstanding relief pitching, Wednesday carried the Los Angeles Angels past Seattle 8-6.

Matthews hit his homer as part of a four-run opening inning. But the Angels blew an early 4-1 lead and fell behind 5-4 going into the bottom of the fifth.

Guerrero then put the Angels back in front with his blast off Felix Hernandez (3-3), who gave up nine hits and seven runs over six innings. After an outstanding start to the season, Hernandez is 1-2 since a month-long stay on the disabled list.

Angels starter Jered Weaver lasted only 4 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits and five runs. Dustin Moseley (4-0) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of relief, during which he allowed a hit and a run.

Scot Shields pitched a perfect eighth and Francisco Rodriguez struck out the side after walking the leadoff hitter in the ninth for his 18th save.
