Shawn Green out with foot injury

MIAMI, May 26 (UPI) -- New York Mets outfielder Shawn Green will miss an undetermined length of time with a small bone fracture in his right foot.

He suffered the injury in Friday night's game against the Florida Marlins in Miami when he fouled a ball off the foot in the fifth inning.

After being examined, the Mets said on their Web site that he was told to put a boot on the foot and walk with crutches for at least the next several days to see how the foot reacts.

"The doctor said it's not in a bad place, hopefully," Green said. "He didn't think it was something where I could injure it worse by playing. I just know it's hard to run. It's sore and it hurts when I try to stand on my toes."

Green is batting .314 with five home runs, 22 RBI and four stolen bases.
