Romero leads after 54 holes of Senior PGA

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C., May 26 (UPI) -- Eduardo Romero shot a third-round 1-under 71 Saturday two take a two-stroke lead at the Senior PGA Championship at Kiawah Island, S.C.

Romero, of Argentina -- who has led all three rounds -- closed with consecutive bogeys to end the day at 7-under 209.

South African Nick Price, a three-time major winner, had a 70 playing in the final group alongside Romero and Japan's Joe Ozaki. Price shares second place with Zimbabwe's Denis Watson (69) at 211.

Ozaki, one shot back of Romero at the turn, finished at even-par 72 and is fourth at 212.

Brad Bryant (73), Mark O'Meara (71) and Tim Simpson (69) -- the top Americans on the leader board -- shared fifth place at even-par 216.

Romero, 52, -- an eight-time European Tour winner -- earned his only career Champions Tour win at last year's JELD-WEN Tradition, the final major of the season.
