ARLINGTON, Texas, May 26 (UPI) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka suffered through a five-run fourth inning Friday night but still won his sixth straight decision, as the Boston Red Sox beat Texas, 10-6.
Matsuzaka (6-2) was staked to a 4-0 lead but he squandered it, thanks in part to home runs by Frank Catalanotto and Sammy Sosa. The Red Sox star allowed seven hits and struck out six over five innings, during which he threw 85 pitches.
Boston bailed him out, however, by regaining the lead with two runs in the fifth. David Ortiz doubled home the tying run and Manny Ramirez singled in Ortiz to put the Red Sox in front for good.
The loss went to Wes Littleton (0-1), who gave up the fifth-inning runs. Boston tacked on four more in the sixth, highlighted by Jason Varitek's RBI triple.
The game was delayed two hours at the start by rain.
