PARIS, May 25 (UPI) -- No. 1-ranked and two-time defending champion Justin Henin opens her 2007 French Open against No. 67-ranked Elena Vesnina, tournament officials said Friday.

The draw for the 2007 French Open, which begins Sunday, was announced Friday. It will be Henin's first Grand Slam of the year after advancing to all four Grand Slam finals in 2006.

Henin skipped this year's Australian Open for personal reasons. Serena Williams won that event and could meet Henin the French quarterfinals.

World No. 2 Maria Sharapova opens her French Open against 47th-ranked Emilie Loit.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, who lost the 2006 French final to Henin, was given the No. 3 seeding and plays Ekaterina Bychkova and fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic opens against Stephanie Foretz.

Serena Williams, who was unseeded in Australia, has played her way to a No. 8 seeding going into the French Open. Her first match is against Tsvetana Pironkova.
