LAWRENCE, Kan., May 25 (UPI) -- Brandon Rush, who helped lead Kansas to a conference title and a regional finals berth in the NCAA Tournament, has put his NBA prospects on hold.

Rush, who had previously announced he would be a part of the NBA draft, said Friday he had withdrawn his name and would return to Kansas for his junior season. Rush averaged 13.8 points and 5.6 rebounds last season.

"Brandon has handled the process exactly the way the system was designed and has followed through with everything he said he would do," said Kansas Coach Bill Self. "I know in his mind he wanted to do this from a personal standpoint to investigate, but he never lost sight of the fact that he was going to make a smart decision that was based on his well-being for a career and not just the immediate future."
