NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees announced Friday that Roger Clemens will make one more minor league start before returning to the majors.
Clemens, who will make more than $20 million for four months of regular-season duty with the Yankees, will appear for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday night. He will pitch against the Toledo Mud Hens.
That could set Clemens up to make his 2007 debut against the Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park June 2. Clemens spent the first 13 seasons of his major league career in Boston.
The seven-time Cy Young Award winner pitched for the Yankees from 1999-2003, and then pitched for the Houston Astros from 2004-06.
Clemens had been expected to join the Yankees after an outing with Class AA Trenton last Wednesday, but he gave up three runs on six hits, and walked four with a wild pitch and a hit batter in 5 1/3 innings.
He has 348 victories in the majors, eighth on the all-time list.
