
KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 23 (UPI) -- John Buck and Mike Sweeney hit home runs as part of a five-run second inning Wednesday, igniting Kansas City's 11-7 victory over Cleveland.
Mark Grudzielanek and Alex Gordon also homered for the Royals, winners of three straight and eight out of 10.
Brandon Duckworth (2-3) got the win in relief, allowing a run over three innings after starter Scott Elarton was unable to complete five innings.
Elarton gave up four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 with four walks.
Kansas City got to Cliff Lee (2-1) for eight runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3. The Royals overcame an early 3-0 deficit, getting two in their half of the first on RBI singles from Emil Brown and Gordon.
Buck then led off the big second inning with a homer and Sweeney had a two-run shot later in the frame.
