NASHVILLE, May 22 (UPI) -- The new stadium being built for the Dallas Cowboys was chosen Tuesday to be the site of Super Bowl XLV, the NFL championship game set for Feb. 6, 2011.
NFL team owners, meeting in Nashville, voted for Dallas over bids from Glendale, Ariz., and Indianapolis. Like Dallas, Indianapolis will have a new stadium in 2009 while the Arizona facility opened last year and is slated to be the site of Super Bowl XLII on Feb. 3, 2008 -- the next NFL title game.
Super Bowl XLIII, after the 2008 NFL regular season, is set for Tampa, Fla., while Super Bowl XLIV has been awarded to Miami.
The new Dallas Cowboys stadium will be near its current facility in Arlington, Texas, between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. The stadium will seat more than 100,000 and cost about $1 billion to build. It is to be ready for the 2009 regular NFL season.
