NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) -- Pro Bowl kick return specialist Justin Miller of the New York Jets is facing misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a brawl outside an area nightclub.

The 23-year-old NFL star, who represented the Jets in the Pro Bowl last year, allegedly punched a 26-year-old woman last weekend after an argument at a local club, The New York Post said Monday.

Miller allegedly fled the scene early Sunday morning, according to one witness, but was caught by police.

"They (the cops) are all panting, like they had been running a lot, with that guy, the football player, in cuffs," the anonymous witness told the Post of the incident.

"He (Miller) wasn't saying much. He looked a little embarrassed," the witness added. "He was looking at the ground and shaking his head."

Miller was released without bail after being arraigned, the Post said, and expressed regret in a released statement.
