CONCORD, N.C., May 19 (UPI) -- Kevin Harvick won the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge Saturday at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.

Harvick's No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet crossed the finish line 0.141 seconds ahead of Jimmie Johnson.

The victory, the first of Harvick's Nextel Cup career, was worth $1,011,125.

"To win the Daytona 500 and the All-Star race (in the same year) is pretty cool," he said. "Jimmie and I raced hard, and he taught me something there getting into turn three -- I was way overdriving it. I just have to thank everyone on this team."

Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and Tony Stewart finished third, fourth and fifth.

The event does not count in the Nextel Cup points race.
