Bryant wins Champions event in a playoff

HOOVER, Ala., May 20 (UPI) -- Brad Bryant beat R.W. Eaks on the third playoff hole Sunday to repeat as the winner of the Champions Tour's Regions Charity Classic in Hoover, Ala.

Both players had scores of 12-under-par 204 after regulation and in the concluding 18 holes, both shot 7-under 65.

At the winning hole, Bryant made birdie to successfully defend his title and win for the third time on the Champions Tour.

Tom Kite (66) and Denis Watson (67) shared third place at 11-under 205.

Scott Hoch, who had at least a piece of the lead after the first two rounds, closed with a 2-under 70 to end alone in fifth at 10-under 206.

Bob Gilder, who shared the second-round lead with Hoch, shot only 1-over 73 in the final round. That dropped him into a share of sixth at 9-under 207 with Ben Crenshaw (68), Hale Irwin (70), Hajime Meshiai (66), Rod Spittle (66) and Fuzzy Zoeller (69).
