HAMBURG, Germany, May 19 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Roger Federer and second-seeded Rafael Nadal Saturday won their semifinal matches at the German Masters in Hamburg.
Federer, the top seed, rallied to beat former world No. 1 Carlos Moya of Spain, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Nadal also bounced back from a set down to top Aussie Lleyton Hewitt, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, extending his clay-court winning streak to 81 straight matches.
"It's nice to come back from a set behind," Federer said. "Every time I lost this season after being down a set, I could not come back. I knew it was going to get hard. I missed opportunities in the first two sets (but) I came out of it and I played well in the third set. I'm happy I'm coming through playing this way."
Nadal was facing defeat at 4-5 in the third set after a Hewitt service break, but was able to win the last four points.
