MLB: Boston 4, Detroit 2 (2nd Game)

BOSTON, May 17 (UPI) -- Eric Hinske hit a two-run homer Thursday that helped carry Boston past Detroit 4-2 and gave the Red Sox a sweep of a day-night double header.

Boston won three games in the four-game series with Kevin Youkilis and Alex Cora driving in the other two runs in the evening portion of the twin bill.

The win went to Brendan Donnelly (2-1), who threw 1 1/3 innings in relief of Curt Schilling. Schilling gave up two runs on eight hits in six innings and followed a strong seven-inning outing by Julian Tavarez in Boston's 2-1 victory in the opener.

Detroit has lost four of its last five. Wilfredo Ledezma (3-1) took the loss in the night game, allowing the two runs on Hinske's homer in 5 1/3 innings of work.
