BOSTON, May 16 (UPI) -- Wednesday night's game in Boston between the Red Sox and Detroit was postponed by rain.
The contest game has been rescheduled as the opener of a day-night doubleheader Thursday.

Wednesday's game had not started, but rain was falling when it was postponed, with rain and inclement conditions forecast throughout the evening.
The pitching match-ups for Thursday will be Detroit's Mike Maroth against Julian Tavarez in the day game, and Detroit's Chad Durbin facing Curt Schilling in the nightcap.
