MLB: Cincinnati 2, San Diego 1 (12 inn)

SAN DIEGO, May 15 (UPI) -- Ken Griffey hit a solo home run off Health Bell in the 12th inning Tuesday lifting the Cincinnati Reds over San Diego, 2-1.

Bell (0-2) was pitching in relief of David Wells, who tossed eight strong innings, surrendering seven hits and one run while striking out five.

Griffey's homer was the 571st of his career, bringing him just two home runs shy of Harmon Killebrew for eighth on the all-time homer list.

Ryan Freel had an RBI double, Jeff Conine added three hits, and Brandon Phillips was 2-for-5 for the Reds, who won for the first time in their last five games.

David Weathers threw three innings in relief to improve to 1-2.

Reds starter Aaron Harang gave up one run on two hits over nine innings in the no-decision, striking out seven and walking four.
