Colangelo, who carries the titles of president and general manager of the Raptors, was listed on 20 of the ballots. Houston General Manager Carroll Dawson was second with nine votes.

Colangelo had been with the Phoenix Suns for 15 seasons before moving to Toronto in 2006. In his first full season as a Toronto executive, the Raptors went from 27 wins in 2005-06 to 47 victories in 2006-07. Toronto also won the Atlantic Division title for the first time this season.

It was the second time Colangelo was voted NBA executive of the year. He won after the 2004-05 season when the Suns turned in the third-greatest season-to-season turnaround in league history.
