CAR;SON, Calif., May 13 (UPI) -- Taylor Twellman scored twice in the second half, including the game-winner, as New England escaped with a 3-2 victory Saturday.
Twellman scored the 80th goal of his career early in the second half and added his 81st in the closing minutes as New England scored three times after halftime to extend its unbeaten streak to six games. The Revolution (4-1-2) moved into first place in the Eastern Conference.
Los Angeles (1-2-1) opened the scoring just 14 minutes in when Kyle Martino scored his first goal of the season. The early strike was set up by Landon Donovan, who assisted on both Los Angeles goals, and Peter Vagenas.
New England got the equalizer less than two minutes into the second half when Adam Cristman scored with assists by Steve Ralston and Andy Dorman. It was the sixth assist this year for Ralston and moved him within one of the all-time MLS record.
Twellman gave New England its first lead five minutes later but Los Angeles tied it again when Donovan served the ball to Tyler Marshall and he flicked the ball with his head inside the far post.
