
NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Oliver Perez gave up one earned run and two hits in 8 1/3 innings Sunday afternoon as the New York Mets pounded Milwaukee, 9-1.
Damion Easley had two runs, three hits -- including a two-run homer -- and four RBI. Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer; Perez, Jose Reyes and Ramon Castro drove in one run; while Castro, Reyes, Carlos Gomez and David Wright all had two hits for the Mets -- who won twice in the three-game series between the NL East and NL Central leaders.
Perez (4-3) walked two batters and struck out six before he was lifted by Willie Randolph" class="tpstyle">Manager Willie Randolph, after giving up a solo home run to Bill Hall with one out in the top of the ninth. Wright stole a career-high three bases.
Losing pitcher Chris Capuano (5-1) lost for the first time this season, surrendering four earned runs and seven hits in four innings.
